Per Lidia Estepa, Khimia is an allegory, portraying the transformative process of the soul. Through the emblematic ritual that our characters partake in, we find the transmutational force of life, replete with all the potential experiences, lessons, and awakenings of consciousness available to us, once we truly listen. The characters in this film are symbolic beings seemingly out of a collective fable, representing the distinctive facets within an alchemical process of the essential self, including animal nature, eros, spirituality, and creation. In this realm, we navigate the story by submerging ourselves in its infinite non-temporality, that nonetheless returns us to our present moment.

Thông qua nghi lễ mà các nhân vật trải qua, chúng ta tìm thấy sức mạnh để có thể biến đổi cuộc sống – những trải nghiệm, bài học và sự thức tỉnh tiềm tàng về ý thức có sẵn cho chúng ta – một khi chúng ta dành thời gian lắng nghe bản thân. Các nhân vật trong phim này là những sinh vật mang tính biểu tượng bước ra từ truyện ngụ ngôn, đại diện cho các khía cạnh trong một bản thể thiết yếu: bản chất động vật, tình dục, tâm linh và sự sáng tạo.
