Adrienne Bailon was born into a family with a passion for music in New York City. In a recent interview, she told Harper’s Bazaar about her love for singing, “I have never stopped loving the act of singing. I sing at home all the time. I sing around the house, I sing in the shower.” That was how The Flamingo of The Masked Singer Season Two (2019) started talking with us about her more-than-two-decades career and celebrity status.
Rise to fame
At the age of 15, Bailon became a member of the girl group 3LW. The other girls were Kiely Williams and Naturi Naughton. 3LW released several hit songs, including No More (Baby I’ma Do Right), Playas Gon’ Play, or I Do (Wanna Get Close To You).
The girls were known for their coordinated and matching outfits, which were often bold and colorful. Their fashion style was often described as “urban chic” and included crop tops, oversized pants, and lots of bling, which was popular in the early 2000s.
In addition to their music, the group’s Y2K fashion style influenced a generation of young women and helped to define the fashion trends of the early 2000s. Regretfully, 3LW disbanded in 2007 due to personal difference.
In 2003, Adrienne Bailon made her acting debut in Disney’s The Cheetah Girls franchise. The movie, which was based on the book series of the same name, became an instant hit and led to two sequels. Bailon immediately gained worldwide recognition for her lead role as Chanel Simmons. She said, “I loved the fact that it started out as a movie and at some point we became the girl group The Cheetah Girls. We ended up touring together and selling out arenas and it was an absolutely incredible opportunity.” The Cheetah Girls were the first girl group to have their first three studio albums debut in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Solo career and The Real
After The Cheetah Girls franchise came to an end, Bailon focused on singing and acting. She starred in several movies and TV shows. Competing on the 10th season of Dancing with the Stars, she finished in fourth place.
In 2013, Bailon landed her most significant role yet as one of the co-hosts of The Real. The talk show, which also features Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, and Tamera Mowry-Housley, tackles a variety of topics, including celebrity news, relationships, and current events.
Bailon is known for her candid and honest opinions on The Real. She often shares personal stories and has been open about her struggles with infertility and body image. The Real has been a huge success and has won several Daytime Emmy Awards.
“For me it was an honor to be the first ever Latina on daytime television on an English Network. I love the fact that we were able to speak from our hearts about things that we have been through, personal stories,” Bailon told Harper’s Bazaar.
Fashion, business and motherhood
From her time with 3LW, Bailon has always been known as a fashion icon. She launched her own jewelry brand called XIXI in 2018. The brand is known for its trendy and affordable jewelry pieces. The actress has stated that she started the brand as a way to provide her fans with access to jewelry pieces similar to the ones she wears, but at an affordable price point. She also founded and is the designer of her luxury fashion label La Voûte.
Bailon has been married to six-time Grammy winning musician, Israel Houghton, since 2016. Their baby boy Ever James Bailon-Houghton was born in August 2022. She exclaimed, “I am completely blown away… It was a really long journey to becoming a mother after six years of struggling with fertility issues.” The mother added, “Ever is a very chill baby, he is the sweetest boy. He like his mom…loves to sleep… Motherhood isn’t about me. There’s just something so beautiful about watching him experience the world for the first time.”
For most of her life, Adrienne Bailon has been in the public eye. This is not going to change. Adrienne is now the new host of E! News. She is cohosting alongside Justin Sylvester.
